Bo Burnham
Why Bo Burnham? Not many see him as an activist but I believe that comedians are in a way activists. They poke fun at social norms and weird ways people have normalized certain aspects of life. Inside is Burnham's most recent work and one of the greatest pieces of media I've ever seen. The entire special revolves around Burnham creating a special during the beginning of the covid-19 pandemic, everything from the lighting, cinematography, and editing were all done by Burnham. He remarks on the hardships of comedy ever being relevant anymore in Comedy where he asks "Is comedy over? Should I leave you alone? 'Cause, really, who's gonna go for joking at a time like this?" Or how In Welcome to The Internet users have become desensitized and are itching for new content. Other songs such as White Woman's Instagram and FaceTime with my mom reveal the struggles of living your life on the internet which I very much relate with.
Introduction
This is me, Kendrick. I am Filipino and a Criminal Justice major. I just recently got into film photography, bought my first film camera at the beginning of September, hopefully, I get some really cool shots! Besides that, I've been keeping myself busy with video games and work. I hope to make new friends this semester and y'all can add me @ken.drone on Instagram.
Burnham's work inspires me in a way I'm not sure many people can. His earlier videos and songs were posted on YouTube, but they were very edgy and inappropriate for today's standards. But from Inside Burnham reflected on his past and writes Look who's Inside Again and Goodbye where he begins to wonder if he's back where he started 14 years prior to the pandemic. He's stuck in his room trying to find his way out from the use of music, however, for me, it was the internet. I tried to escape me being trapped in my room for most of my childhood and used the internet as an escape.
