9/15 Artist + Self Introduction

Artists + Self Introduction

An artist whos work I've grown to have inspiration as well as appreciation for is Ashley Lukashevsky. She uses her talent of visual arts to express her opinions and fight against unjust systems that have been set in place for topics such as immigration, racial justice, LGBTQA+, mental health, and climate change. She likes to describe her work as a means to draw "what that world looks like" without these harmful systems. What sticks out about her work is her diversity when it comes to her drawings. Her art has a message within each piece she creates.

Hi, I'm Amy and I'm a Media Arts major. I really like to watch movies (especially horror movies) and I love taking photos whenever I go somewhere new. Something I hope to do in the future is to go with a group of friends on a cross country road trip :)

Ashley Lukashevsky's work greatly inspires me due to the passion she has for her work and for the effort she puts into sparking change. The art she makes are beautifully done and she believes that everyone should be treated fairly no matter their race, gender, or sexual orientation. This piece in particular means a lot to me because it shows support for immigrants during times when immigration is a hot topic in politics among others. I've had people in my life, both family and friends, who have been impacted by immigration and deportation. I've been lucky enough to go see my family in Guatemala after not being able to do so for years. Works such as the one above make others and I feel better knowing there are people out there willing to put up a fight for those who seek a better life in the US.
