Intervention 1 (modified)

With the increasing pressure that climate change is placing upon our world is it prospected that conflicts over essential materials such as water could very well take place in the near future. These grim possibilities of the future are blocked out of public consciousness due to the blindly optimistic canvassing of the global media machine. In some ways using memes to highlight stark and harrowing images of the negative consequences of overconsumption is active form of resistance that can be very effective but can also have the negative consequence of making people recede into hopelessness.

One of the most interesting aspects of meme making is the actual programs that are used to create them. From actual professional application like Photoshop to the long lasting drawings made in MSPaint. Recently however I've seen the use of adding text in the Instagram stories feature. This way of making and spreading memes becoming homogenous to one platform is an interesting development. The original circulation of memes on certain websites and how they immigrate and adapt into other platforms like the wojack's original home of 4chan becoming a monolithic base all over the internet would make for a great paper.
