A late introduction!

Keith haring!

Hi! My name is Patricia and I’m choosing Keith haring as my activist artist. He rose to fame with his subway drawings and outspoken work on the AIDs crisis during the 80’s. The use of simple imagery and words made his style iconic. But the tool that makes his activism so powerful is the use of art in public space.

My own relationship to art became serious when I realized the art I wanted to create was accessible and public. Long before I learned about artists like Haring and so many others that valued art as a form of communication and universal experience. 

I’m an illustration major and would love to get into murals and tattooing. I think both are artworks that connect us in a community or individual level to our own artistic experience.
